Akureyri, Northern Iceland
At this retreat, you’ll stay in private apartments complete with geothermal jacuzzis or at a local hotel. Daily yoga classes will be held each morning in our private yoga space at the only wellness center in Akureyri—complete with sauna, Jacuzzi, massage, and an exceptional view of the fjord and nearby mountains. After lunch on most days, we’ll explore the island’s incredible landscapes, venturing on breathtaking hikes, visiting frozen waterfalls, and taking a star-lit soak in the famous Myvatn Nature Baths. In contrast to the more touristy city of Reykjavik in the South (and home to close to 80% of the population), the city of Akureyri, North Iceland (population 18,000) has been one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Now the secret is out: in 2015, Akureyri was voted the number one destination in Europe by Lonely Planet. Akureyri’s mild climate on the longest fjord in the country and its close proximity to the Arctic Circle make it a must-see destination.
